An important part of the mission of The Elon School is to teach the importance of community involvement and service. To fulfill this mission, all the students at The Elon School are required to perform Community Service.
Because the term "community" has many definitions, students have many choices in how to fulfill this Community Service obligation. Past community service activities have included traveling on church missions, volunteer camp counseling, assisting senior citizens, teaching dance to elementary children, running 5K and 10K races for charity, and participating in the recycling program for TES. The task for each student is to find his or her own volunteer opportunity, or to create one him/herself. All of our students have great abilities; the Community Service program is a student's chance to share these abilities with others and to learn that one's unique talents can transform others in the community.
Cindy Bennett is the faculty coordinator for community service. Please feel free to contact her with any questions about the Community Service requirement at cindy.bennett@theelonschool.org.
