Community Service is a very important aspect of our program and supports our mission of "developing social responsibility". There are many components to community service at The Elon School. First, we have an afternoon program where students and faculty go into the community to serve in a variety of areas: For example, American Red Cross, tutoring and mentoring younger students at PAYC or St. Mark's Church, the Oaks retirement home and others. Second, we have formed a Key Club where student leaders plan and prepare additional projects in the area. Third, we have "all-school" events where every student is involved in community service. In the past we have worked with Special Olympics and helped build a Kaboom playground in Charlotte for the Kennedy Charter School (also under the auspices of Elon Homes and Schools for Children).
