An unassuming young man who has never really felt like he stood out before gets a standing ovation for playing the piano at school meeting. A student committee struggles to write an effective and powerful Honor Code. A talented artist paints a mural in the Great Hall. A young woman who has never played soccer discovers her athletic talent two weeks into the season. A group of AP Biology students shares in a collective "high five," celebrating their "5s" on the national exam. A committed young woman organizes a fundraiser to provide medical care to a very distant island for those who desperately need it. A group of Chemistry students takes water samples from the nearby pond. A teacher demonstrates how to dance "the Charleston" as part of a lesson on the 1920s. A united tennis program hoists a state championship trophy for the second straight year - in only their second year of competitive eligibility. |

Alamance County's independent high school has a growing population of bright and talented young people who are taught to write and think critically, to express opinions backed by evidence, to problem-solve, to create solutions, to analyze data and to collaborate with others to complete a task. They are working with a talented and dedicated faculty from all over the country (indeed the world), most of whom have advanced degrees. Their classes are held in modern facilities in classes no larger than 16. They are challenged creatively in a full Arts Program and athletically on competitive and supportive sports teams in the Triad Athletic Conference. They take advantage of a daily Tutorial Period and an individualized College Counseling Program. Their student voices have an impact on the philosophy and policies of The Elon School, from the Community Service Program to the School's Dress Code Policy. They are the center of a community that promotes learning in a supportive environment while challenging individuals in the pursuit of excellence. These are just a few of the snapshots of The Elon School.
We encourage you to come for a visit to see what we are all about.
