Jay Lasley is a Burlington native who has distinguished himself as a school administrator, as a teacher in the classroom, as a basketball coach, and as a tireless advocate on behalf of quality high school education, discipline, and high standards for all students. He has a strong commitment to his students and his team members and is well known and respected for his compassion and high personal and academic standards.

Mr. Lasley earned his Bachelor’s Degree in History at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He taught Social Studies at Williams High School and served as the Athletic Director. He was the head basketball coach at Williams from 2003-2006. As an administrator, he was on the Williams Leadership Team from 1999-2003, on the School Crisis Team and Student Assistance Team. He is a member of the North Carolina Coaches Association and the North Carolina Basketball Coaches Association. Mr. Lasley is the 2003 recipient of the Times-News NIE Award of Excellence for Teaching, the 2004 Five County Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Coach of the Year, and the 2006 Mid-State Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Coach of the Year. He and his wife, Emilly, have three children.
