The purpose of The Elon School Student Government Association is to serve as liaison between the student body and the school administration and faculty, providing means for student statement in school affairs. The students and staff of The Elon School are committed to the principle of student government and acknowledges the value of granting students the opportunity to govern their affairs by which strong character is developed and nurtured. Student government promotes leadership, self-confidence, and self-reliance. It is a privilege, not a right, and teaches students important lessons regarding the proper balance of freedom, privilege and responsibility.

The student government sponsors canned food drives throughout the year to benefit community agencies such as Loaves and Fishes and the Spring Formal. They are active in other community events including Special Olympics and the Red Cross blood drive. Student elections are held in April for returning students and in October for the 9th grade.
